Replacement Main Spring for the antique French Chassepot, Fusil modèle 1866.
The replacement Chassepot main spring is made from spring tempered steel with a black oxide coating for lubricity and corrosion protection.  Ends are closed and ground flat for a stable interface with the bolt.  Spring specifications were chosen to closely replicate original spring force and ensure reliable ignition.
